Signage alone cannot solve a wayfinding problem. Providing visitors with a variety of tools and presenting information in different forms helps to create a variety of touch points and opportunities to help people find their way.
Orientation maps, whether they are printed in a brochure, displayed on signage, or digital and interactive, are a common wayfinding tools. The use of consistent terminology and graphics across a range of mediums builds trust in the wayfinding program and gives the user confidence that the information being presented is accurate, up-to-date and part of an overall system.
