WAYFINDING MASTER PLAN
PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE

The City of Portsmouth, settled in 1623, is a compact community of 21,000 residents whose population expands dramatically during the tourist season. The City's scenic location along the Piscataqua River, rich maritime history, sidewalk cafes, art galleries, boutiques and distinctive architecture make it a popular destination for visitors.

Portsmouth engaged MERJE to design a signage program that would help visitors navigate efficiently to key destinations whether driving, cycling or walking. Consistent and clear directional signs that reflect the cultural richness of one of "America's Prettiest Towns" was the result of the plan.
