TRAIL IDENTIFICATION & WAYFIN DING
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

The Friends of the Wissahickon was formed in 1924 to "preserve the natural beauty and wildness of the Wissahickon Valley and stimulate public interest therein." In partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Friends engaged MERJE to develop a comprehensive trail identification and wayfinding signage system for the 1,800-acre Wissahickon Valley Park.

The goals of the project are to keep visitors oriented through trail signs; communicate emergency safety information clearly; keep visitors from closed areas to prevent resource damage; and to convey this information in an engaging, subtle, and non-intrusive format throughout the Park's 50 miles of hiking fails.
